Quality Fertility Treatments in Mumbai
Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
Intrauterine insemination is the procedure of deposition of prepared husband’s semen inside the uterus of wife at the time of ovulation. This helps in increasing the chances of conception over and above the natural course. It is suggested in cases of subfertility like decreased sperm count/motility, cervical mucus factor etc.
In-vitro Fertilization (IVF)
In vitro fertilisation is an assisted reproductive technique in which eggs are collected from ovaries and allowed to fertilise with the husband’s sperm in a specialised laboratory. The fertilised Ovum is allowed to grow in a controlled environment mimicking the conditions inside the female body for 3-5 days before being transferred into the wife’s uterus.
ICSI
The technique of injecting a single sperm cell into the cytoplasm of the egg is known as ICSI (Intra cytoplasmic sperm injection). This technique is a specialised form of IVF in which we ensure more fertilisation of eggs than the conventional IVF.
Fertility Enhancing Endoscopy
Fertility enhancing laparoscopy and hysteroscopy is indicated for evaluation of the female reproductive system. It also helps in removal of ovarian cyst, fibroid polyp, tubal blockage correction, uterine septum resection, endometriosis, treatment of PCOD etc , thus increasing the fertility quotient of female patients.
Treatment of Male Infertility
Depending on the case, either medical or surgical treatment can be undertaken by the team of Andrologists, Urologist and Fertility expert. In severe cases of male factor infertility sperm retrieval procedures such as PESA/TESA/TESE can help the couple to conceive.
Advanced ART Techniques
Embryo Freezing
Process where embryos in IVF laboratory are frozen using latest Vitrification technique and stored in liquid nitrogen canisters for future use. Embryo freezing is a modern technique used for fertility preservation for couples who want to conceive in later years. Also couples who have conceived can store their embryos for future pregnancies .Lastly frozen embryos are thawed and used in an unique IVF technique called as frozen embryo Transfer (FET).
Cryopreservation of Eggs & Sperms
Cancer treatments can harm fertility, with effects varying based on cancer type, treatment, and patient age. Chemotherapy and radiation can impact both male and female fertility. Individuals undergoing treatment have fertility preservation options: females can harvest or cryopreserve eggs, and males can preserve sperm. Additionally, career-oriented couples and those who travel frequently can also preserve eggs and sperm for future conception. These measures ensure the possibility of starting a family when the time is right, despite the challenges posed by cancer treatments.
Blastocyst Transfer
A technique in cooperation with IVF-ICSI, designed to increase pregnancy rate. Blastocyst culture and transfer is an advanced technique where embryos are cultured for 5 days in a specialised IVF laboratory. The further developed embryos till day-5 (i.e. Blastocyst stage) is selected and transferred to the uterus. This allows us to raise pregnancy rates while reducing the number of embryos transferred.
Laser hatching
A scientific technique used in IVF-ICSI improves implantation of embryos into the woman’s uterine lining. In this technique the Zona layer of the developing embryos is thinned out with the help of a laser so that their chances of implantation in the women’s uterine lining is enhanced.
PGD/PGS
Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) /screening (PGS) are the most advanced and revolutionary methods of treating infertility by using highly specialised molecular genetic techniques. PGD/PGS is a procedure where a laser is used to take out an embryonic cell which is obtained through IVF-ICSI. The embryo obtained cell is analysed for presence of particular genetic disease and only the genetically healthy embryos are transferred in the women’s womb. This technique is especially helpful in couples of unexplained infertility, couples with genetic disorders, previous IVF failures etc.
Single Embryo Transfer (SET)
In this method only a single embryo is transferred to the women’s womb. It is advisable in cases where couples want only a single baby, women of higher age with medical illness such as diabetes & hypertension in female partners etc.
Surgical Sperm Retrieval
Surgical sperm retrieval is usually done in couples who have severe male factor infertility. This procedure is usually done under local anaesthesia and can be carried out in three ways:
PESA (Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration):
With PESA, a fine needle is used to collect sperm from the epididymis (a tube at the back of testicles that stores and carries sperm).
TESA (Testicular epididymal sperm aspiration):
In this technique a small syringe & needle is used to collect sperm directly from testis.
TESE (Testicular sperm extraction):
During the TESE procedure, sperm cells are extracted directly from the testicular tissue.
